A couple of days ago I was given insight into an idea, to start a minor league baseball organization in Iraq. I started working on a proposal for money, and realized I really am passionate about baseball and what I believe it can do for a community. My goal is to finish the proposal and submit it to every MLB team, the MLB itself, US government agencies, as well as international agencies.
Part of this is brainstorming, and networking. There are people who know more about Iraq, and maybe even people who know more about baseball organization than I do (though I doubt it!), so I want your opinion.
I titled this ‘An Experiment in Hope’ because last year when I heard President Obama’s convention speech, I felt a jolt in my soul. Maybe people just started to lose hope for things, and not wanting to make things better. When did people start losing hope in eachother, and themselves. I hate feeling like the planet is being destroyed and eventually, were out of water or die of some crazy 2012 jibber. Also, thousands of children die everyday around the world of hunger. Yeah, I’m real optimistic. Baseball to me represents community, team-building, conditioning, and discipline. It’s also fun. The elements of a minor league system can incorporate local employees, volunteerism, and community building.
Over the next week or so I’ll explore through my blog ideas about the plans, and reveal more specifics. I’m optimistic. Maybe I’ll lose hope somewhere down the line because some alien species invade the Earth and cause mass panic and a major paradigm shift. Maybe then I’ll lose hope, but it may just be a new hope.
So please help me in this process with your comments and critiques as well as coming back to check up on any progress I have made, or if you are interested in being of some serious help. I appreciate it.
