I am thoroughly disappointed. This is supposed to be my personal blog about what happens in my personal life and what i feel but this affects everyone and i am not feeling great about this piece of news.
Obama and his advisors saying the rest of the 22 days to Copenhagen are too few to actually arrive at a legally binding agreement smacks of the kind of an excuse an undergraduate would give for not preparing his essay for class. That the last 24 hours he had when he had wasted the rest of the 3 weeks he had doing all things an undergrad must do, were just not enough to prepare for the coursework!
Yes i know Mr Obama has been busy, he has a tough job, but this was the change he promised! Yes he can promise all he wants, but it is not in his hands. My disappointment is with all our leaders, all trying to pass the buck, all waiting for another year, all waiting for things to just chug along till it is not their responsibility. Perhaps they pray for a day when suddenly they wake up and come to know there is no such thing as climate change, just as there is no poverty in the world and just as there are no health care reform measures to be taken in the US.
Yes i know i am not making the most sense out here, but really? what an exuse! Copenhagen and what is expected has been the mantra for everyone for more than a year and a half now. And now 22 days before we come to know we have not enough time to come up with something, the assurances of the deal to be finalised in the next few months is just a postponing tactic. I really do not believe that the world leaders have not had time since Kyoto to come up with something that can be tabled at this mother of all conferences. After all the blah, and all the jargon and all talk and air, this is what it is, irresponsible undergraduate behaviour. As the song goes.. ‘it’s later than you think’
